Staying Healthy at School

The Maddux School is committed to maintaining an optimal environment for the health, safety and education of all individuals on our campus. We follow the CDC’s updated Respiratory Virus Guidance for use in schools and childcare programs, which is endorsed by the Maryland Department of Health (MDH) and Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE).

  • If your student is experiencing respiratory symptoms (can include fever, chills, fatigue, cough, runny nose, and headache) that are not explained by another cause, stay home and away from others.
  • Contact The Maddux School to let us know your student is ill and will be absent.
    • Parents should email their child’s teaching team
    • Staff should contact your supervisor(s) as directed.
      • Please note: the studentcovidreport@ivymount.org and staffcovidreport@ivymount.org email addresses are no longer active.
  • You can return to school/work and normal activities when, for at least 24 hours, both are true:
    • Your symptoms are getting better overall, and
    • You have not had a fever (and are not using fever-reducing medication).
  • When back to normal activities (including school/work), take added precaution over the next 5 days, by wearing a mask around others and physically distancing to the extent possible.
  • If you develop a fever or start to feel worse after you have gone back to normal activities, stay home and away from others again until, for at least 24 hours, both are true: your symptoms are improving overall, and you have not had a fever (and are not using fever-reducing medication). Then take added precautions for the next 5 days.
